Lettering Delights Clearance Sale some random posts!

Ok, I have completely organized my Math files on my computer..WHEW!! I have had Math on the brain for the last 3 weeks. Today, I am ready to switch gears for awhile. I need to organize my Language Arts files today. So, you might see some random posts with things that I will share today. :-)

Dollar General and Wal Mart Finds/Linky Party

Ladaybu's Teacher Files is hosting a shopping linky party!

Ladybug's Teacher Files Classroom Shopping Linky Party

Here is what I found on my shopping trip today. Which...BY THE WAY...was intended for something completely different!

First up, Dollar General...found some really cute baskets in the colors that I wanted and only $2! I also found some cute visors for $1 and popcorn bowls for $1. I had an idea! I will use the visors for my Read The Room Station. AHA! I can use one of those really cute colored tubs for that too. Wait, wouldn't it be cute if they had pointers that matched. I am off to Wal Mart. I got some paint sticks and away I went!

The small gift bags were on clearance at DG for 25 cents. I am going to use those for a math station, Grab and graph. They even have a little gift card attached where I can write a letter on the bag. The popsicle sticks and the wiggly eyes will become an "I Spy" stick and my lunch choice sticks. I am not 100% sure what I am going to do with the foam hand and feet stickers....something with counting by 5's or 10's.

I need blog help!

Ok, how do I get a picture/icon to show up with my post. I followed my own blog (tee hee) to see what it looked like when I had a new post and NO PICTURE! What do I need to do?? Anyone!?

Sweet Spots!

I found this idea on the WWW a few years ago (sorry can't remember where?!) I keep chapsticks, or "sweet spots" in a basket on my small group table. Also, at the beginning of the year, I will carry 1 or 2 in my pocket. I use these to reinforce positive behavior...walking quietly in the hall, following directions the first time, being a helpful student, really could use for whatever you would like. The students just put the chapstick on the top of their hand. The sweet spot stays with them for a bit..especially if they don't wash their hands (ewwww!) They absolutely love it! I definitely go over with them that these are ONLY for their hands and we never put sweet spots on their lips! I am in the process of making myself a very cute basket for them! I will post a picture when I am done. I am telling you, sweet spots work miracles! As soon as I give a student one, then everyone else is doing exactly what I want them to. Oh, I do have one important rule...we do not "ask" for sweet spots!

Lunch Choices

This is something that I had made for next year. I love them! Amanda was a student teacher at our school and is very talented! You can check out her cute stuff at

Live Laugh Scrap

Make sure you tell her I sent you! :-) She made me some awesome Husker stuff for my desk! Maybe I will post those later!

Our school has 6 choices for lunch...I know, I know...that's too many! Well, I have pictures to match each of our food choices. I hang those on the clips and then the kids put their lunch choice stick (which by the way, I am working on this morning and will post pics of those when I am done) in the corresponding and matching box. It makes lunch count super easy. Actually, I start it right away and I count them, but then eventually my helper counts them for me!

Numbers 0-20 (1 more, 1 less, 2 more, 2 less)

My Kinders are only expected to know numbers 0-10 by the end of the 1st quarter. However, most of them come to me already knowing those numbers...and then some! I just made these number cards. I will cut them out and glue them onto a large posterboard (out of order and randomly placed) and then laminate it. The kids can toss a beanbag on the board. They name the number. Now, you can add the more/less cards for the ones that are ready. You could have those separate and they just draw a card instead having those glued to the poster. I hope this makes sense. I don't have a picture because I haven't made it yet. I just made some of these posters with high frequency words and they LOVED playing those games! I plan on making more to go with these. So, check back soon! :-)

State Shout Out

Primary Connections is hosting a linky party...a State Shout Out!
Primary Connections: Let's do a STATE Shoutout!

Family Pictures for the Classroom

This is a letter that I give to the parents at Open House. I ask that each child bring in a framed family picture. We keep these in the room all year long. I love it and the kids love it! It makes our classroom very homey! At the beginning of the year, if my kiddos are having a hard time being away from home, then I let them get their family picture and keep at their desk while they work. It has really helped. Of course, after the first week of one really needs them anymore. They are just a nice addition to our classroom!

Family Picture Letter

ABC's of Kindergarten

This is something that I saw on a site a few years ago. So, this is not an original idea of mine. I need to retype it for next year, but thought that I would share the idea with you. My parents really love it! I was thinking about even getting some folders this Summer, when they go on sale, and put them in a folder for them. This will be in a PDF format, but if you would like the template, I can email it to you and you can make the changes that you need.... without having to retype the entire thing. All I ask is you leave a comment, follow my blog and mention on your blog!

Blog Stalking Linky Party

FUN! My second linky party today! :-) Clutter-Free Classroom is hosting this one!

How do I choose just one blog to stalk?! I can NOT! However, I will say that one of my new faves is Step Into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons. She is a new blogger, but already has given lots of free and SUPER CUTE printables!

My Wish List Linky Party

Really Roper: My Wish List Linky Party

Really Roper is hosting a linky party! I decided to get in on this one! Here is my LARGE wish list:

First, I want to jazz up my library area. Because of the room that I have been in, I have never really been able to have a library corner. I am moving into a brand new, BIGGER room and will be able to have my library corner! So here are a few things that I need to get this Summer.

I also want a new teacher chair. I have seen some really great ideas for painting wooden rockers. So, can't wait to try my hand at painting furniture!

Now, here's my techie wish list. My school provides us with a Macbook Pro. However, this Fall we will have to sign a waiver stating that we will not use it for personal use at all. WHAT?!?! I use my laptop for everything! So, of course I need one of my own!

I need a new printer to be able to print all of the cool things from blogland

My contract is up in the Fall and definitely getting one of these...

I have seen so many great teacher blogs that use ipods for listening stations and lots of other great apps too!!

Just because...

Step Into 2nd Grade with Mrs Lemons has a great post on Book Buddies!!

WOW! I want a lot. I guess this linky party is titled "wish list" :-)

Classroom Mail

I love my new mailbox! I had a fabulous crafty mom that made this for me! Now I just need my hubby to not work so much overtime and put it on a post for me!

Free! Free! Free!!

I don't know if you have used Vistaprint before, but they are fabulous! These are few of my latest prints! All I had to pay was the shipping...only about $8! The pink/green business cards are the ones that I give to the parents to keep with them. The bigger cards that have my contact information on are the ones that I laminate and put a strip of magnet tape on the back. They can hang these on the fridge or filing cabinet at home. I will do the same thing for the Popcorn Words Card. This way they know which high frequency words are introduced each quarter! The other sticky notes and the pen are just for me...FUN! Vistaprint is always offering something for FREE! I save everything in my vistaprint portfolio and then reorder. It is still cheaper to pay shipping for separate orders!

Volunteer Gifts

These were the pots that we made for all of our classroom volunteers! They turned out so cute! I used our school colors to paint (green and purple) and paint markers to add the details. Paint markers...LOVE THEM! I went back and bought more colors. You can use these for so many things and they are so bright!!

Daily Schedule Linky Party

Simply 2nd Resources is hosting her first linky party. This was a previous post of mine, but I am joining the party! :-)

My district is adding 30 minutes to our day AND I am still not sure how I will get everything in! I have always done a quiet time and next year I do not have it on my schedule. I guess I will see how it goes. Some years I have had kids that needed the rest and then other years...not so much!

Ready Confetti

This is a poem that I found on the internet, sorry I can't remember where. I print this and attach it to a snack size bag of confetti. At my school, Open House is right before we go back to school. The kids usually come the first day with little marks of color on their faces! LOL! I just thought of another to do this Summer...."find confetti that won't stain the kids' faces!" I would be happy to email this to you if you would like to include your name at the bottom!

Yahoo! I have a blog!

Ok, I have found so many great teacher blogs out there. It is so fun to see what everyone is doing, get new ideas, and even if I don't find just what I am looking for....I create!! So, I thought that I would give blogging a try!
